Vent: That $50 password manager I cheaped out on last year

Bought some random $50 password manager off a deal site and it had a data leak six months later. Had to reset 200 accounts before breakfast. Anyone else get burned trusting a bargain security tool?

Reset 200 accounts before breakfast" is the kind of morning I try to avoid. Guess you learned the hard way that cheap security is just a fancy way of saying "future headache". At least now you can brag about your extreme account recovery skills to anyone who will listen.

@river190 nailed it though because this is the same trap people fall into all over the place, not just online but with cheap tools for actual jobs or even the no-name parts you grab for your truck thinking you saved money until you're stuck on the side of the road. It's always the shortcuts you don't take seriously that end up costing you double.

You know, I used to think cheap security was just being smart with your budget, but after dealing with a similar mess I totally get what you mean now. River190's story really opened my eyes to how much time you waste cleaning up the shortcuts later. Have you found a decent middle ground that doesn't break the bank but also doesn't leave you resetting everything at dawn?
