TIL you can hide your wifi network from neighbors without turning it off
I used to think hiding your SSID was pointless because anyone with a basic scanner could still see it. Then my neighbor's kid kept trying to guess my password using those dumb phone apps. I just unchecked the broadcast box in my router settings three months ago and haven't had a single failed login attempt since. Not perfect security but it stops the casual snooping cold. Has anyone else found this kills those random connection requests?

Yep, totally killed those random connection pop ups for me. Way less hassle than dealing with the password guessing. Simple fix that actually works.

Does it actually stop the pop ups for good or is it more of a bandaid? I've got this one app that still fires off notifications even after I turned off every setting I could find, so now I just keep my phone on silent and hope for the best. Kinda makes me wonder if these fixes are just hiding the issue instead of really solving it. For me, it was worth it just to stop getting spammed every time I accidentally brushed the screen with my elbow.

Oh man, 100% same here. I had that one friend who would always try to guess my password and it was such a pain. After I turned that feature off, it's been so much smoother. No more random "someone's trying to log in" warnings that were actually just my own clumsy fingers. I swear, half the time it was me fat-fingering the wrong code on my phone anyway. Honestly, best decision I've made in a while for my own sanity.
