My friend called my password 'a hacker's birthday gift' last month

I was showing them a new app on my phone and they saw my password was my dog's name and the year I was born. They told me it was way too easy to guess. I felt pretty silly, so I switched to using a password manager and making long, random codes for everything. Has anyone else had a friend point out a bad security habit you didn't even know you had?

My password before I switched was literally "password123" and my friend roasted me so bad I almost deleted the account. They told me a hacker could guess that in like two seconds and I didn't believe them until I looked it up. Now I use a password manager too and it's honestly way less stressful because I don't have to remember anything. The random codes are annoying to type in at first but you get used to it. Better to feel silly now than get hacked later.

Is it really that big of a deal if someone guesses your password? Most people aren't being targeted by some master hacker, they just get caught in a big data leak. If a site gets hacked, it doesn't matter how strong your password is, it's out there anyway.
