My cousin told me my password was basically a welcome mat for hackers

He saw me log into my bank account and said, 'Mia, 'Fluffy2024' is not a password, it's a public announcement.' I felt so silly! I switched to a 12-character mix of letters, numbers, and symbols the next day. Has anyone else had a friend call them out on bad security habits?

Totally get it, my brother roasted me for using my dog's name too! @nina_sullivan61 is right, that old habit is so risky. I started using a password manager, it makes those crazy strong passwords way easier to handle.

Remember when everyone used their pet's name and birthday? My old roommate used "Spot123" for everything until his Netflix got hacked. What finally got you to make a real password?

Mention @nina_sullivan61 but just a friendly nudge that Netflix hacks usually happen from password reuse, not weak pet names alone.
