I ignored the breach alert my bank sent in March and it was real
I figured the text about a login from a city I have never been to was a phishing fake, until I called the number on my card and they walked me through 3 weird logins, and now I check every alert instead of assuming it is a scam, so how do you all tell a real bank alert from a fake one?
Ugh, I gotta disagree here. Assuming every alert is real is exactly how people get got by the fake ones. Scammers copy the real alerts word for word now, same sender name, same scary wording. The move is to never trust the alert itself and instead open your bank app or call the number on your card, which is basically what you did anyway. So the alert didn't teach you to trust alerts, it taught you to verify everything on your own.
