I had to pick between a free VPN and a paid one for my trip to Berlin
I mean, I was going to use public Wi-Fi a lot, so I knew I needed something. I went with Mullvad VPN for about $5 a month because I read their no-logs policy is really solid. It worked great at the cafe near my hotel, no weird slowdowns. Has anyone else tried a specific VPN for travel that they liked?

Yeah, Mullvad's no-logs thing is a big deal. Did you actually check if it worked on the hotel Wi-Fi itself, or just the cafe? I've had VPNs that are fine in one spot but totally choke in another, like the connection in the lobby was weirdly slow.

Check the hotel wifi yourself, because that's where it really matters, right? @wesley_hart makes a good point about speed changing from place to place. I had a VPN that was perfect at home but totally useless at the airport, just choked on their network. So you can't trust it works everywhere just because it worked in the cafe. Did you try a speed test in your actual room?
