Honestly, I used to think my old password system was fine until my email got hit last year.

Tbh, I used to just add a number to the end of the same base word for everything. After that email breach, I switched to using a password manager about 8 months ago. Now I let it generate a totally random 16-character password for every single account. It felt like a hassle at first, but I haven't had a single issue since. Has anyone else made that switch and found a specific manager they really like?

Glad to hear it's working for you. I made the switch from LastPass a while back and haven't looked back. The fact that it's open source and you can host it yourself gives me a lot more trust. It just feels more transparent than some of the bigger names. For a free tool, it really does everything you need.

Right? That's exactly how I felt too. I was on LastPass forever and it got so bloated and slow. I've been on Bitwarden for about two years now and honestly, it's been way more stable. The whole open source thing makes me feel a lot better too, especially after all those LastPass hacks. And yeah, @danielwhite, Bitwarden's been rock solid for me as well. It's crazy that something this good is free when you look at what some of the paid ones charge.
