A coffee shop in Seattle had their guest Wi-Fi hacked and it made me rethink public networks
I was working there last Thursday when the whole network went down, and the owner told me someone had set up a fake hotspot with the same name. I now use my phone's hotspot instead of any public Wi-Fi for my laptop. What's your go-to move for staying safe when you need internet on the go?

Just got a VPN for that exact reason.

Ugh, this is how everything feels now... like you need a special key just to use the stuff you already pay for. It's not just sports or shows, it's like every company puts up a little digital fence. Want to watch the local game? Fence. Read an article from another country? Fence. It's exhausting trying to just... do normal things online without hitting a wall. Getting a VPN feels less like a cool hack and more like a required tool just to get around all the pointless blocking.

So which one did you go with, @sean_hunt61? I tried a couple free ones first and they were painfully slow for streaming. My buddy swears by one that works for sports blackouts, but mine just buffers during big games. Did you actually notice a difference right away, or is it more for peace of mind?
