Stopped using detailed character sheets for my stories and my output tripled in a month
I used to spend hours mapping out every character's backstory before writing a single scene. Last month I tried just jotting down one defining trait and letting the rest come out naturally during the draft. Has anyone else found that overplanning kills their creative flow?

Right there with you, ditching the planning was the best thing I ever did for my writing.

Admit I thought the same way for years. But after trying it your way last month I totally get it now. My characters feel way more real when I discover them as I go.
