Shoutout to my old professor who said to write the ending first
He told us in a workshop last semester to always draft the final scene before anything else. I thought it was dumb and ignored it for months, but I got stuck on my current story. Tried his method last week and wrote the last page in like twenty minutes, and now the whole middle section is falling into place. Anyone else have a weird piece of writing advice that actually worked?

Yeah, first drafts being all endings makes sense.

Right, the "all endings" thing. It's like you're so excited to get to the payoff that you skip the whole middle. My first draft is just a list of cool scenes I want to happen, but they don't connect at all. It's all dessert, no dinner.
