Just realized I've written over 200 prompts this year without noticing
I was scrolling through my old files last night and counted up all the writing prompts I've jotted down since January. Turns out I hit 213. Most of them are garbage honestly but about 15 of them turned into actual short stories I finished. I started doing this as a warm up thing before work and it just became a habit. Anyone else keep a running list of prompts and surprised yourself with how many you have?

... and now I'm wondering if the act of counting them somehow makes you write more or less.

Yeah that "act of counting them" part really stuck with me too @gibson.oliver. I used to think tracking stuff like word count was just pointless busywork, something writers did to feel productive without actually being productive. But reading your post kinda flipped a switch in my head - if you're paying attention to how much you're writing, you're probably also paying more attention to what you're actually putting down on the page. It's like the counting forces you to slow down and notice your own habits, good or bad. I dunno, it just clicked for me that maybe the act itself changes how you approach the whole thing, not just the number at the end.
