I spent $60 on a 'premium' writing prompt book that was just recycled ideas from a free blog

Yeah, that's rough. I used to buy those fancy guides for everything, thinking the price tag meant better stuff. Getting burned on a gardening book full of basic tips I already knew online totally changed my mind. Now I always check if the free stuff covers it first, saves so much cash and frustration.

A gardening book full of basic tips"? That's insane. How do you even mess up something that simple?

Totally feel that, happened with a photography ebook last year. Like @nathan_barnes said, checking free stuff first is key. I search for "common problems with X" or "beginner mistakes in Y" on blogs and videos now. If the paid book doesn't go way deeper than those free lists, it's not worth it.
