I noticed my writing got way more descriptive after I stopped using prompts for a month
Back in March I switched from daily writing prompts to just freewriting whatever random scene popped into my head, no rules or limits. Now my dialogue feels stiff compared to before and my descriptions actually paint pictures. Anyone else find that prompts help or hurt their natural voice in different ways?

That freewriting really unlocks something in your brain prompts just don't touch.

Interesting that you mentioned dialogue feeling stiff after freewriting. Do you think that's because you're now more aware of how your actual inner voice sounds versus how prompts train you to think characters should talk? I noticed a similar thing where my action scenes got choppy but my internal monologue stuff got real smooth. Were you writing scenes based on things you actually experienced or just random fantasy stuff? Curious if the subject matter changed too.
