I got over a writing block by describing a room from my cat's point of view

I was stuck on a story for a week, trying to make a tense family dinner scene work. On a whim, I wrote the whole thing from the family cat's view, focusing on smells and sounds under the table (like dropped gravy and nervous foot tapping). It totally broke the block and gave me a bunch of new, weird details I could use. Has anyone else tried a weird perspective shift like that to get moving again?

Sounds like a fun writing exercise for sure. Doubt it's a real fix for serious creative problems though. Probably just a way to waste time feeling productive.

Honestly, I get where you're coming from. In my experience, treating it like a magic fix is the problem. It's more about breaking the initial "staring at a blank page" panic. Once you get a few bad sentences out, sometimes your brain unclenches enough for the real ideas to show up. It won't solve deep plot issues, but it can get you moving when you're totally stuck.

Honestly, is a blank page really that scary?
