Hot take: a librarian in Dayton gave me the best prompt advice I've ever gotten
I was stuck on a short story for 3 weeks and went to the main library on 3rd Street just to get out of my apartment. An older librarian named Ruth saw my notebook and said one thing that stuck: write the scene where your character is wrong about something small. I went home and had 2,000 words down that same night, all from a prompt I never would have picked myself. What's the weirdest prompt advice you've gotten from a random person?
Gotta be real, one librarian saying one line doesn't seem like enough to call it a magic trick. Writing 2,000 words after a chat could just be you finally sitting down and doing the work. Good line though, I'll give you that.
