PSA: I dropped $340 on one of those smart locks for my apartment door and it was the worst roommate related buy ever
My old roommate Danny kept losing his key so I bought a fancy smart lock for our place on Maple Street for $340 to end the whole lockout mess. Big mistake, the thing ate batteries every 5 weeks and the app logged him out constantly, so he just started leaving the deadbolt unlocked all day instead. I sold it on Marketplace for $90 and we went back to a $6 hide-a-key that never once failed us. Anyone else blow real money on smart home stuff hoping it would fix a roommate problem? Would love to hear I'm not the only one who fell for this.
