I Was the Nightmare Roommate Who Left Passive Notes and Called It Communication
For about 8 months in my old apartment near Dayton, I left sticky notes on everything instead of just talking to my roommate. I thought I was being polite by writing things like "please rinse the pan" on the faucet, but I was really just being a coward who let it build up. The thing that tipped me off was when he started leaving notes back, and his said "stop leaving notes" with a little sad face drawn under it. We sat down that night and talked for 5 minutes, and every single thing got fixed right then. Turns out the popular advice to "write it down instead of fighting" backfires when you live with someone and never actually speak. Anybody else been the sticky note person and had to face it?
