Why does nobody talk about the difference a new load chart app made on my jobsite?
For years I was using the same old paper charts and a calculator. A buddy showed me this app called LiftPlanner on his phone about six months ago. I tried it on a tricky pick at a hospital construction site in Dayton. The before and after is crazy. Before, I'd spend 15 minutes double-checking my math and still second-guess myself. Now I plug in the boom length, angle, and load weight, and it gives me the capacity in seconds. Last week we had to move a 12-ton AC unit into a tight courtyard, and the app flagged a potential stability issue I hadn't caught. It probably saved us from a close call. What other apps or tools have you guys found that actually make a real difference in your daily setup?

Wait wait wait, you're telling me it flagged a stability issue that you totally missed with the paper charts? (I mean, we all think we're being thorough with the old methods, but that's insane.) I've seen guys at my site spend way too long crunching numbers and still have to call the foreman over to double-check. That AC unit story is wild, honestly it makes me wonder how many close calls we've had that we never even knew about because the math looked fine on paper but wasn't catching the real physics.

Sounds like that app saved your bacon.

Oh man, it really did. It's wild how much we rely on little tools like that now. I've noticed everything from traffic apps to grocery list reminders are just baked into daily life. Feels like we're all outsourcing our memory and planning to our phones.
