TIL that letting the load settle before I boom up fixed my swing sway
Last Tuesday I was setting an AC unit on a roof in Tulsa and the thing kept swinging like a pendulum every time I stopped the swing. A retired operator named Dale was watching from the ground and hollered up that I was booming up too early, before the load quit moving. I started waiting a full 3 count after the swing brake caught, then boomed up slow, and the load came in dead straight on the first try. Also started using the tag line guys better instead of just waving them off, and that helped a ton. Anybody else have a trick for killing sway on a windy day, or is 3 seconds about right for you?
