Remember when we had to eyeball everything? A story from a job in Spokane.
I was on a site in Spokane about fifteen years back, lifting a heavy steel beam into a tight spot. The wind picked up fast, and I felt the load start to swing toward a stack of new windows. I didn't have any fancy load moment indicators back then, just the old gauges and my gut. I stopped the hoist, swung the boom the other way, and used the trolley to gently walk the load back over clear ground. We got it placed after the wind died down, but it was a close call. What's the closest call you've had with a sudden weather change?

Ever had a sudden gust almost take your ladder right out from under you?

Almost took your ladder out from under you" sounds like a stretch to me tbh. I've been working in wind for years and never had a gust even come close to lifting my ladder off the ground. Those things are planted solid if you set them right, and if you're using the proper safety spikes they aren't going anywhere.
