Rant: found out the wind gauge on most new cranes is rated for gusts way lower than I assumed
I was reading through the load chart manual for a 2022 model we rented out of a yard in Fresno, and buried in the fine print it says the anemometer alarm only kicks in at a gust threshold I always figured was way higher. Called the dealer and the tech confirmed it, said the cutoff is set for sustained wind, not the short gusts that actually tip you. I have been running on gut feel for 12 years and this one stat made me rethink every pick I have made on a breezy day. Anybody else get surprised by what the manual says versus what the old guys on site tell you?

My 12 years of "feel" are now sitting in the corner with their head down after reading that stat too. Turns out the only thing my gut ever measured was how bad I wanted to finish the pick.
