Question about those fancy load indicators on older cranes

Always thought the digital load indicators on our 2009 Terex were just a fancy gimmick that would break, but after a 12 ton pick last Wednesday it saved me from overloading by almost 3 tons. Anyone else have old gear that surprised you with how well it works?

Man, buddy of mine had a old Grove that saved his bacon the same way.

Wait, @blairwhite, your buddy had an old Grove that did the same thing? I gotta hear more about that. My Terex's load cell actually showed the exact weight to the tenth of a ton when we were lifting that beam, and I swear I thought it was broken until it started beeping. Thought it was just a gimmick like the backup camera on my buddy's 2005 F-250 that cuts out every time it rains. But nah, that digital indicator saved my back and probably my job too.
