Picked the older Grove over the new Liebherr on a tight site, glad I did
Had a job last week off I-35 in Austin where the pad was barely wide enough for a 50-ton setup. I had to choose between a Grove RT530E with 40 feet of stick or a Liebherr LTM 1040 that the office wanted on site, and I went with the Grove because its outrigger spread fit the concrete pad we poured. The Liebherr would've needed extra cribbing and a full lane closure, but the Grove sat fine and we lifted 12 HVAC units without moving the truck once. Anyone else trust older iron over newer machines when the footprint gets tight?
