Picked a 60 ton over a 90 ton for a rooftop job in Tulsa and now I'm second guessing
Had a HVAC unit swap on a 6 story building in Tulsa two weeks back and the boss gave me the call on which rig to send. The 90 ton was already booked, so I went with the 60 ton and kept the load chart in my back pocket the whole time. It worked fine, charted at 78 percent capacity at that radius with the jib stowed, but the wind picked up around 2pm and I shut it down early. Now the super is asking why we lost half a day, and I'm wondering if holding out for the bigger crane would have been the smarter play. Any of you ever eat the extra rental cost just for the margin, or do you stick with what charts out?
