Had a old-timer tell me I'm rigging too fast...

Met a retired guy at the yard last week who watched me choke a load and said I was rushing the tagline setup. He showed me how he does a quick double-wrap on the hook for stability and honestly it felt way more solid. Anyone else pick up little tricks from older operators that you still use?

... and honestly I used to brush off that kind of advice thinking it was just old school stubbornness. But last month I tried the double-wrap trick on a tricky beam lift and the load stayed dead steady, no swinging at all. I had to eat my words cause that little change saved me from a sketchy re-adjustment. Have you found it works better on certain types of loads or just all around?

Wait, you seriously got a beam lift to stay dead steady with just a double-wrap? I always figured that was more of a parlor trick for light stuff, not something you'd trust on an actual beam. That's wild, I gotta try that on my next awkward-load job.
