Got called out for my hand signals on a job in Cincinnati
A rigger pulled me aside after a lift and said my 'lower' signal looked too much like my 'stop'. He was right, I was using a loose wrist. I changed it that day to sharp, clear movements from the shoulder. It feels way more solid now. Anyone else have a signal they had to clean up?

Yeah, had the same thing with my 'swing' signal. Started making the whole arm move like a big clock hand, no more tiny wrist flicks. Cleared up all the confusion on the spot.

Wait, doesn't that big arm movement risk making the signal too slow for a fast break? I found I had to keep a firm wrist but initiate the motion from the shoulder to keep it sharp. The tiny flicks are bad, but a full, loose arm swing can get muddy.
