Came across an old OSHA report that floored me

I was digging through some old paperwork my uncle left me, he ran a rigging crew back in the 80s, and found a 1972 OSHA report on crane accidents. Turns out the fatality rate back then was nearly 3 times what it is now per 100,000 workers. I knew things were safer but didn't realize the gap was that wide. We take load indicators and anti-two-block systems for granted these days. Any of you old timers remember running without any of that?
