Boom truck vs crawler on a mud site - picked wrong

Last week I had to choose between my 50 ton boom truck and a 70 ton crawler for a job in Clifton. The site was a total mud pit after three days of rain. I thought the boom truck would be faster to set up, but man I was wrong. Got stuck 20 feet from the pad and had to call a tow truck for 4 hours. Should have went with the crawler even if it took longer to unload. Anyone else ever pick the wrong rig for ground conditions and regret it?

Makes you wonder why we keep picking the quick option over the smart one.

Man youre telling me. I learned that one the hard way on a site in Wayne. Now I keep a set of those snap-on tracks for my boom truck just for mud season. Adds an hour to setup but beats a tow bill every time.
