Back in the day, I wasted $800 on a 'universal' remote control system for my old truck crane.

It was supposed to sync with the main panel, but the lag was so bad I had to scrap the whole thing after a week. Anyone have a solid brand for retrofitting older lattice booms?

Stick with hardwired every time for boom work. Wireless looks clean on paper but that half second lag can drop a load before you even blink. Genie's basic kits are bulletproof and way easier to troubleshoot when something does act up.

Oof, that is a brutal story. Throwing that much cash at a "fix" only to get junk is the worst feeling. I've heard some guys have good luck with the basic hardwired kits from Genie for older rigs, way more reliable than anything wireless. That lag would make precision work totally impossible.

Yeah, tell me about it... sounds like @the_thomas knows the pain. That kind of lag would have you opening the door with a hammer by the end of the day.
