A foreman told me I was spinning the load wrong after 8 years on the job
I used to always spin a load by swinging it from the hoist line. Felt natural, got it done. Last month a foreman on a site in Aurora pulled me aside and said that's actually harder on the boom and the cable. He showed me how to use the tagline to walk the load around instead of relying on the swing. Took me about 3 lifts to get the hang of it but now my hoist cable isn't twisting up as much. Has anyone else had a old habit pointed out that made a real difference?

Man that's a good point. I notice it a lot in my own life too, where you get so used to doing something a certain way that you don't even think about it anymore. Then someone shows you a different method and it's like a lightbulb goes off. It happens with everything from how you load a dishwasher to how you carry groceries. It's easy to get stuck in your ways and think your way is the only way. But sometimes that one little change can save you a lot of hassle down the road.

Yeah but sometimes the old way works fine and changing it just slows you down. Not every habit needs fixing if the job still gets done safe.
