I used to just shove all my game cases into a cardboard box... now I do the alphabet thing

Back in like 2012 I had maybe 30 PS2 games and they all lived in a milk crate under my bed. I'd just dig through them whenever I wanted to play something. Took forever but whatever right. Fast forward to last year when I got into collecting for PS1 and PS2 again... suddenly I had over 100 games and digging through a box was a nightmare. So I bought those little plastic DVD bins at Target for $8 each and sorted them alphabetically. Now I can grab Crash Bandicoot in like 5 seconds. My only problem is I keep buying more games and my shelf is getting tight again. Anyone else hit a limit on how many games fit before you have to reorganize everything?

...and then I ran out of shelf space so now my PS2 games are alphabetical and my PS1 games are just stacked in release order on the floor next to the shelf. I tell myself I'll fix it when I get a bigger place but that's been three years now.

Oh come on, alphabetical is the most boring way to organize games! You're basically turning your collection into a library. Where's the fun in that? I actually organize mine by genre and then by how much I like them. So my favorite RPGs are front and center, and stuff I never play is buried in the back. @faithb78 I feel you on the floor stack situation though, that's how my PS3 games ended up last time I moved. But honestly, digging through a box has a certain charm to it. You stumble on games you forgot you had and it feels like a little treasure hunt every time. Alphabetical just removes all the surprise and joy from looking at your shelf. Plus with the alphabet system you're forced to put games next to each other that have nothing in common, which just looks messy to my eyes.
