I spent about $50 on matching clear bins for my game shelf and regret it
When I moved into a 400 square foot studio in Portland 3 years back, I went all in on clear plastic bins so everything would look uniform on my one shelf. Spent close to $50 on 12 of them at a store downtown, plus labels. The problem is you can still see the mess inside, so it never looked clean, just like clutter in a box. Half the cases were odd sizes too, so loose discs and cables kept sliding around. I switched to a cheap shoe rack and a couple fabric bins from a thrift spot, maybe $15 total, and it works way better in a small space. Anyone else find that clear storage just makes your stuff look worse instead of neater?

Dang, I used to be all about clear bins too. I figured if I could see everything I would actually stay organized, but it just showed every tangled cord and mismatched case. I had the same problem where nothing fit right and stuff slid all over, so it looked worse than when it was just sitting on the shelf. A cheap rack and some fabric bins totally changed it for me, since you can't see the mess and everything has a real spot.
