Tried Asymmetric vs Symmetrical co-op last weekend and my friend group split
We played It Takes Two (asymmetric) and then tried Castle Crashers (symmetrical) back to back Saturday night. The asymmetric game had roles where I was jumping while my buddy was shrinking stuff, but after an hour we both felt tired from arguing about who does what. Symmetrical games like Castle Crashers where we all have the same moves just clicked better for our group of four. Has anyone else found that certain types of co-op cause more friction with specific friend groups?

It Takes Two isn't asymmetric, both characters have unique but parallel abilities.

Totally agree, I found it more like playing two sides of the same coin rather than truly different gameplay. The whole game felt balanced with their abilities complementing each other, not being asymmetric.
