Pro tip: Let the weaker player pick the character first in TowerFall

My buddy kept rage-quitting after I locked in Octopus every round, so I let him pick first and suddenly we're having fun again. Anyone else got a house rule that saves the night?

Yeah, I learned that one the hard way too. I used to be the Octopus guy until my friends threatened to play 'find the new controller' instead of TowerFall. Now I just let them pick first and pretend I'm being generous, but really I'm just bad at hiding my sweat.

Oh man, @rayc38 is spot on about the sweat thing, but actually Octopus isn't even the best pick in the latest patch since they nerfed his dive recovery frames. I just let my friends grab whoever first so they can't blame the character when I still win.
