Our 4-player split screen setup died 20 minutes into a Mario Party night and I've never seen a room turn so fast
The HDMI switcher I've had since college just quit last Friday, so we went from four controllers and yelling to one person scrolling Netflix on a laptop. Took me an hour of swapping cables to realize the old box was the problem, and honestly the group just ended up playing card games instead. Did anyone else keep a cheap switcher around way too long, or is it time I just run one cable straight to the TV?
I ran a $15 switcher from Amazon for about three years and it started dropping the signal every few minutes, which is worse than it just dying. Swapping to a single long HDMI cable straight into the TV fixed it for good, and the only cost was moving the console a couple feet closer. If your TV has enough ports for your consoles, skip the switcher and just deal with the short cable run.
