My wife's aunt trauma-dumped about Mario Party at Thanksgiving dinner
She spent 20 minutes blaming my Joy-Con drift for breaking up HER cousin's marriage back in 2017, and now I'm terrified to play any co-op game at family gatherings. Has anyone else dealt with someone who takes couch co-op WAY too seriously?

Wait, is this a real hill the aunt is willing to die on? I gotta admit, I hear stories like this and I'm always a little skeptical about how much a video game controller actually wrecked a marriage.

Honestly, it sounds wild but I've seen enough couples break up over way smaller stuff. It's never really about the controller itself, it's what it represents. Idk, maybe it's just me but people can get weirdly territorial about their stuff, especially when they feel like their partner isn't respecting their boundaries. You see this pattern all the time where one person keeps pushing and the other finally snaps over something that looks tiny from the outside. It's like the last straw on a camel's back situation. So yeah, a video game controller ruining a marriage seems crazy, but it's probably the tip of a much bigger iceberg.

What was the push factor before the controller snapped the camel's back?
