My sister's boyfriend said 'couch co-op is dead' while we were setting up for game night, and I had to prove him wrong with a single game.

See this all the time. People declare something dead just because they stopped paying attention to it.

Man, I used to think that too... until my buddy brought over "It Takes Two." That game is nothing but couch co-op, and you literally can't finish it alone. Changed my whole view on the spot.

You mentioned it "changed your whole view on the spot"... and I get that, but here's the thing nobody's talking about. Couch co-op isn't dead, it just got pushed out by companies making games that have to sell to everybody at once online. The real issue is that big publishers figured out they can charge you for a game AND a subscription just to play together on different screens.
