Appreciation post: My niece and I finally beat Cuphead after three months of trying

We must have died a hundred times on that final boss, but the high five we shared on my couch in Portland was worth every second. What's a game that gave you a real sense of shared victory?

Beating Cuphead is a real badge of honor, that game is brutal. The shared struggle makes the win so much sweeter. My brother and I had that same feeling finishing It Takes Two. We got stuck on that damn squirrel boss for a whole weekend. Arguing over the controls then finally nailing it was pure magic. Nothing beats that kind of gaming moment with someone you care about.

Dude, the clock boss in It Takes Two almost broke me and my girlfriend. We spent like four hours on it and I think we yelled at each other more than we talked normally that night. When we finally got that last nail in place and saw the cutscene, we just sat there in silence for a minute before laughing our heads off. That feeling of finally clicking together is what makes those hard games worth it for sure.

That squirrel boss in It Takes Two is tough, but the real wall for most people is the clock boss. The one with the hammer and nails. That's where my partner and I almost quit. The squirrel is just the first big skill check. Beating the clock felt like the real shared win.
