Appreciation post: local bar's Mario Kart night saved our group
Last month, a few of us hit a Tuesday night Mario Kart tournament at a place called The Taproom in Denver. We expected a couple of rounds, but the bar had four old CRTs set up on couches, total throwback vibe. My friend Sarah brought her kids, and honestly, watching them trash-talk adults was the highlight. It got me thinking about how rare it is to find public spots that actually encourage couch co-op chaos anymore. Has anyone else found a bar, library, or community center that hosts classic split-screen nights? I'm curious if this is a growing thing or just a lucky find on our end.
Four old CRTs on couches? That is wild. Most bars can barely keep one working TV going, let alone four of those heavy monsters from the 90s. I can't believe they actually set that up and let kids in to wreck grown adults at Mario Kart. The Taproom is sitting on a gold mine and they don't even know it.
