Went to a lavender farm in Oregon and spotted something wild

I took a trip out to this lavender farm near Portland last weekend thinking I'd just sniff some flowers and buy overpriced soap. But I noticed the owner had these old rusty metal bed frames turned into trellises for the lavender bushes. Like full on headboards and footboards just stuck in the dirt with plants growing up through the slats. Looked super cozy and old timey honestly. She said she got them from a scrap yard for like $15 each and just spray painted them a matte black. I never thought of using bed frames for garden stuff but it gave the whole place this weird charming vibe. Has anyone else tried repurposing random metal things in their garden like this?

Oh man that is such a cool idea! I did something kinda similar last year but with an old metal headboard I found at the dump. I just stuck it in the ground and trained my morning glories up through the slats and it looked amazing. The rust actually gave it this really nice aged look that matched my garden vibe perfectly. I also grabbed a couple of old metal folding chairs that were falling apart and just planted stuff right through the holes in the seat. They look ridiculous but in a fun way. Now I'm always keeping an eye out for random metal junk at yard sales because honestly anything with holes or gaps works so well for climbing plants.

Honestly I always thought junk in gardens looked tacky but that actually sounds pretty nice.
