Pro tip: I read an old gardening book that said to plant marigolds with your tomatoes

The book was from the 1970s and said to put one marigold for every three tomato plants. I tried it last spring and my tomatoes had way fewer bugs than usual. It also just looked so pretty, like a little flower border around the vegetable patch. The book called it a 'companion planting' trick that people used to do all the time. It cost me about $4 for a packet of seeds. Has anyone else tried mixing flowers into their veggie garden? I'm curious what other good plant pairs are out there.

Only FOUR dollars for seeds? That's insane.

@hugow30 yeah seed prices vary a lot but marigolds are usually cheap. It's funny how we overcomplicate stuff now when old school tricks like companion planting just work with nature instead of fighting it.
