Picked up a free old window from the dump and turned it into a cold frame
I was at the local recycling center last weekend and spotted a wooden window frame someone tossed, so I grabbed it and built a cold frame for my lettuce seedlings. It cost me zero dollars and my plants are already looking sturdier than the ones I started indoors under lights. Has anyone else repurposed old windows or doors for garden projects?

My neighbor made a greenhouse out of old storm doors and now she grows kale year round.

abbyk10, you're telling me her neighbor built a whole greenhouse out of old storm doors? That's wild. I can barely manage a cold frame with one window, let alone a whole building out of doors. I'm honestly a bit shocked someone would just toss out storm doors like that, they're usually solid and cost a pretty penny new. Your neighbor must have a real knack for this stuff because keeping kale going year round takes some doing around here. I might have to start keeping an eye out for more than just windows after hearing that, makes me feel like I'm not thinking big enough with my garden projects.
