My sourdough starter died after 4 months and I can't decide if it's worth starting over
Left my starter jar on the counter last Tuesday while I ran out to a job in Boise, and came home to a gray puddle with a fuzzy top. The lady at the co-op said it was too far gone and to just buy a new culture, but my neighbor swears I can revive it with a spoon of rye flour and warm water. I tried the revival for 3 days, got nothing but a sour smell, and tossed it. Now I'm torn between paying $8 for a fresh starter or just quitting the bread thing altogether, so which side are you on?
