My lavender hedge almost killed my whole garden, took 3 weeks to fix
I planted a row of lavender along my veggie beds in March, thinking it would look cute and keep pests away. Turns out the variety I got from a local nursery in Eugene was way too big for the space, and by June it was shading out all my tomatoes and soaking up every drop of water. I spent 3 weeks digging out root balls and relocating everything, and honestly I almost gave up on the whole cottage garden look. The lavender was gorgeous but it turned into a monster that stole sunlight and nutrients from plants I actually needed. If you're going to add herbs for that cozy vibe, check the mature width before you plant, not just the pretty flower picture. Has anyone else had a 'harmless' herb turn into a garden bully overnight?

Tried mint once thinking I was clever, now my yard is just a mint farm.
