My grandma's sourdough trick made me question everything at 2 a.m.
I've been making sourdough for about 3 years now, always feeding my starter at room temp and tossing the discards. Last week my grandma visited and watched me do the whole routine, then just goes "why are you throwing out the good part?" She told me to keep the discards in a jar and use them for pancakes and crackers. I felt like an idiot because I could've been using that for free food this whole time, but now I'm wondering if there's other stuff I'm missing. Anyone else had that moment where a relative casually dropped a hack that made you rethink your whole process? What did they tell you? My grandma's got 50 more tricks up her sleeve and I'm honestly scared to ask.
