I found a free way to make my garden path look ancient

I was walking through a cemetery in Savannah and noticed how the old mossy stones looked so soft. I went home and blended plain yogurt with water, painted it on my stepping stones, and now they're covered in green moss after just two weeks. Has anyone else tried this trick with something besides yogurt?

My grandma in Tennessee used to spread buttermilk on the north side of her stone wall to get that same old mossy look. It's funny how the simplest things, like stuff already in your fridge, can do more than fancy products from the store. I see it all the time with folks using vinegar to clean or coffee grounds for plants. There's a kind of quiet knowledge that gets passed around for fixing things without spending money.

Wait, she used buttermilk? Like the drink? That's wild. I would have thought it would just go bad and smell awful. Did it actually work or did it just attract every bug in the county? Those old tricks are something else, man.

My uncle used to swear by pouring flat beer on his lawn to green it up. Said the yeast did something fancy. The whole yard smelled like a bar patio for a day, but the grass did look pretty good. He tried it with soda once too, just made a sticky ant problem.
