Found a clover lawn at a farmer's market and it made me ditch my grass

I was at the Oakdale farmer's market last Saturday just buying tomatoes, and this old guy had a little booth with trays of tiny clover plants. He explained how white clover stays green all summer without much water and doesn't need fertilizer. I always thought a proper cottage garden needed that perfect green grass, you know, like something out of a painting. But he let me feel the clover and it was so soft and had these little white flowers that bees loved. I went home and ripped up a patch of my sad, patchy lawn and put in clover seed instead. Now I look out my kitchen window and it's this lush, low growing carpet that I barely have to mow. Has anyone else tried replacing their lawn with something different like that?

Honestly I replaced half my front yard with creeping thyme last year and now it smells like a pizza herb garden when I walk to my car. Ngl my neighbors probably think I'm nuts because I'll just stand there sniffing the ground like some kind of lawn goblin. But the bees are obsessed with it and my water bill dropped like twenty bucks a month. The best part is when people walk by and ask if it's a weed and I get to be like "no it's intentional, I'm fancy now." Tbh the only downside is my dog keeps trying to roll around on it and comes inside smelling like a salad.

Oh man, my friend Kate did this exact thing with clover and it went viral in her neighborhood for the wrong reasons. Some old guy with a pristine lawn literally stood in her yard and told her she was "ruining property values" while a bee landed on his arm and he didn't even notice. She just shrugged and said her water bill was cheaper than his ego, which honestly is the energy I aspire to have.
