Changed my mind about thrifted dish towels after visiting my aunt's farmhouse
I always thought new kitchen towels were better, but last weekend at my aunt's place in upstate New York, she showed me her stack of old flour sack towels. They've been washed a hundred times and are softer than anything I've bought at the store. Has anyone else switched to vintage linens for everyday use?

@oliver_ward14 you're absolutely right about the scratchy towel struggle, and honestly vintage flour sacks are a total game changer because they've already been through the wringer and just get softer with age. The good ones don't shed at all either, I've had mine for years and they still look and feel great.

Are they really worth hunting down at thrift stores, or am I just kidding myself because I've ruined every new towel I've owned within six months? My current kitchen towels are so scratchy they basically double as exfoliating gloves, so maybe some vintage flour sacks would be an upgrade. Honestly at this point I'd take anything that doesn't shed lint all over my coffee cups.

Vintage flour sacks are absolutely worth the hunt... they're basically pre-broken-in and that old cotton just gets softer forever. Check the stained ones too, people overlook those and a good bleach soak brings them right back.
