Vent: I finally saw what a real skin fade does to a client's confidence after 8 weeks
I had a client named Marcus come in back in January with about 4 inches of grown out curls and he kept pulling his hat down the whole consult. We did a mid fade with a #1 on the sides and left some length on top, nothing fancy, maybe 40 minutes of work. He came back last week for his third cut and the change in how he carried himself was honestly wild to watch. He walked in with no hat, sat up straight, and told me his boss pulled him aside to say he looked sharp at a client meeting in February. I did not change his face or his clothes, just his hair, and it shifted how people treat him. Has anyone else noticed a cut doing that much for a client, or am I reading too much into it?
That 40 minutes was not "just hair" though, because a mid fade with a #1 on the sides takes real skill and Marcus picked up on that. What probably shifted is that he stopped hiding, and people read that as confidence before they ever notice the cut itself. It is not the fade doing the work, it is him standing up straight in it.
