Tried a new way to mix color for a client's gray coverage and the results were way different
Had a client last week who wanted to cover stubborn gray hair but keep it looking natural. I usually just mix the color with the developer and go for it. This time, I tried letting the mixed color sit for a full 10 minutes before I started applying it... the oxidation was way more even. The coverage was smoother and the color lasted longer on her hair. I think letting it develop a bit first made the formula more stable. Has anyone else tried this timing trick for resistant grays?

Seriously, that's such a good find! It's like when you let pancake batter rest and it makes fluffier pancakes, or when you let wood glue set up a little before joining pieces. The waiting game just lets things settle into their best state. It makes total sense that color would work the same way. That little pause before starting seems to unlock a better result.

But sometimes waiting just kills the momentum.
